Sarson Ka Saag - This can be the best family recipe in this week-end

Ingredients:  Sarson ka saag – 4 bunches, Palak saag – 2 bunches, Bathua saag – 2 bunches, Methi leaves – 1 bunch, Garlic – 4 cloves, Ginger – 2 inches, Green chilli – 2 (chopped), Salt – to taste, Makki ka atta – 2 tbsp.

Ingredients for Tadka: Ghee or oil – 2 tbsp, Onion – 2 (finely chopped), Tomatoes – 2 (finely chopped), Red chilli powder – ¾ tsp, Garam masala – ½ tsp.


Method: Wash and chop the spinach, bathua, sarson and methi. Cook them with half cup water. Add ginger, garlic and green chillies while cooking. Add salt, cover and cook on a medium flame. Remove and set aside until cool. Grind into a coarse paste. Do not grind into a smooth paste. In a separate pan put ground greens. Add corn flour, add 1 cup water and cook for 15 minutes.

Method for Tadka: Heat the oil in a pan, add chopped onions and sauté on medium heat till the onions are golden. Stir in chopped tomatoes, chilli powder, garam masala and ½ cup of water and bring the mixture to boil. Now add cooked green saag in it and cook for 5 minutes. Serve hot with Makki Ki Roti.
