An ONGC CSR initiative: Foundation stone of Super Speciality Hospital laid at Rajabari, Sivasagar district

On November 17, 2013; Foundation stone of the 300 bed Super Speciality Hospital at Rajabari, Sivasagar district of Assam, an ONGC CSR initiative, was laid by the Chief Minister of Assam, Shri Tarun Gogoi and Union Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas, Dr. M. Veerappa Moily. The proposed Hospital is to be constructed with the expenditure of INR 100 crores by Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) scheme.

The sources state that the proposed Hospital would be a Multi-speciality Hospital, which is an ONGC CSR initiative. The construction works the proposed Hospital would be completed in three phases. In the first phase, 30 per cent works would be completed and 100 bed Hospital would be set up.
Based on the success of the first phase, the works for the second phase would be commenced and the Hospital would be completed to a 300 bed facility. In the third phase, the important addition would be with starting of a Medical college, a Dental college and a Nursing collegeTherefore, the proposed Super Speciality Hospital would be a unique in kind having integrated with Medical and Nursing colleges altogether ensuring regular supply of Doctors and Nursing staff catering to the medical needs of Assam as well as the North-East Region.

Comprising of Shri Sudhir Vasudeva, CMD, ONGC Group of Companies; Shri Paban Singh Ghatowar, Hon’ble Minister of State (Independent Charge) DoNER and Parliamentary Affairs; the function was graced by Shri Anjan Dutta, MLA, Aamguri; Shri Debabrata Saikia, MLA, Nazira; Shri  Sushanta  Borgohain, MLA, Thowra; Shri S.K. Srivastava, CMD, OIL; Shri K.S. Jamestin Director (HR), ONGC; Shri K. Satyanarayana, OSD (Onshore), ONGC; Shri S. S Meenakshi Sundaram, DC Sivasagar; Shri Jatindra Lahkar former DC Sivasagar and Shri B. K. Baruah, Executive Director-Asset Manager, ONGC, Assam Asset.

This historic occasion was also witnessed by a large number of senior officials from different oil companies, District administrative officials, Central and State police officials, employees of ONGC and public from nearby areas participated in the function.

Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) under its Corporate Social Responsibility initiative takes up various development projects, contributing welfare of people in Assam, North-East and the Country, as a whole. The sources state that in the last financial year, ONGC, Assam Asset undertook projects worth INR 10.28 crores and this year also till November, 2013, a sum of INR 8.83 crores spent on this count excluding CSR projects approved by the ONGC Corporate Office.

On his speech, Shri Sudhir Vasudeva, CMD, ONGC Group of Companies stated that the proposed Hospital will be of international standard and it will work on partnership basis on the line of Apollo Hospital, Fortis and Narayan Hridaylaya, etc. This dream project will be the great achievement of ONGC and it will soon be a reality and usher in a new era in the healthcare sector in this part of the country.

On the set of scaling another milestone in the healthcare services in Assam as well as the North-East Region, such type of inclusive development initiative by ONGC with the collaborative support of Central as well as State governments is really bringing about a pivotal change in the healthcare sector of Assam and North-East Region in particular and the Country as a whole.
