Shri Krishna Raslila celebrated at Joysagar in Sivasagar district of Assam

Shri Krishna Raslila was celebrated on 17th, 18th & 19th November, 2013 at the Porag Chaliha Stadium/ Sibsagar College Stadium, Joysagar.  People from the greater Joysagar area of Sivasagar district covering Joysagar, Sundarpur, Meteka, Mechagarh Bagidole, Na-mati, Mathiyasiga, etc.
were participated in the programme making it a grand success. This three day-long celebration was conceptualised as Sarat Festival 2013, which was organised by the Brihattar Joysagar Shri Krishna Rashlila Udjapan Samiti, Joysagar. The celebration committee was constituted with some enthusiastic persons, consisting of Shri Hema Chandra Chetia as President, Shri Sushil Baruah as Working President, Shri Pradip Borah as General Secretary

and Shri Prakash Kr. Nath (Jitu) as Cultural Secretary and Shri Taranath Sharma, Shri Ranjit Dutta, Shri Paban Borah, Shri Rajen Borgohain, Shri Amarjyoti Dutta, Mrs Ranu Saikia and Shri Nivarani Das as Organising Secretaries with the whole-hearted support and cooperation of the public of the greater Joysagar area.

The entire programmes of celebration including Tree plantation, Sensitisation on Environment Cleanliness, etc. were made successful with the active participation by the local people and the youth of Joysagar area, where a large number of children also took part from different places of Joysagar area, such as, Sundarpur, Chipahigaon, Jerenga Nagar, Joya Nagar, Rudrasagar, Sapun Nagar, Godadhar Nagar, Demow Kinar, Bogidole, Mechagarh, Mathiasiga, Na-mati, etc.

and play - Shri Krishna Raslila, in the Maharas celebration, where a full drama – Kansa Vadh was also performed. It is a general view that the dance of Shri Krishna Raslila is one of the significant parts of the celebration, which depicts the decisive part of life of Lord Krishna as He played hide and seek often amidst the Gopis in Vrindavan. The mesmerizing Raslila dance performed by the children of Sundarpur village of Joysagar was witnessed by a large number audiences present and the audiences felt to be blissful as the performance by the children was alike real and divine activities of Gopis and Shri Krishna in Vrindavan.

Ms Ananya Dutta, daughter of Mrs Ranjima Dutta and Shri Probin Chandra Dutta, an employee of ONGC, Assam Asset and resident of Sundarpur village, Joysagar, performed the role of Shri Krishna in the Maharas dance and play. She is a student of Class-VII (B) of Delhi Public School, Nazira. Her excellent performance in the Maharas dance and play as Shri Krishna could create an enthralling highpoint of the Raslila and hence, the large scale of audiences present was spellbound to appreciate her. Ms Ananya Dutta is also learning Bharatnatyam, undergoing Bisharad course under the Bhatkhande Sangit Vidyapith and 6th standard student of Kaladarshan - a School of Art & Craft, Joysagar.

Comprising Ms Ananya Dutta as Shri Krishna and Ms Dipika Bhagawati as Radha in the Shri Krishna Raslila dance, the other core members performed as Gopis were - Sangita Dutta, Lija Dutta, Mayashree Gogoi, Soyonika Dutta, Trishna Dutta, Monikha Mili, Rubi Mili, Trishtina Dutta, Rashmi Dutta, Onkurima Dutta, Gitanjali Nath, Monikha Gogoi, Mitali Sharma, Gargi Devi, Simpi Dutta, Nomita Dutta, Uddipona Bora, Upasana Bora and Shima Saikia.

The Maharas dance was directed by Shri Debojit Chaliha (Junti) and the training was imparted under the guidance of Shri Pankaj Hazarika, Ms Pinki Chaliha, Mrs Ranu Saikia, Ms Rubi Mili and Ms Manisha Mili. The entire Orchestra and Music was directed by Shri Pabitra Konwar, Ms Upasona Borah and the Kansa Vadh drama was directed by Shri Rajen Dutta and Shri Pradip Kalita.

The soundtrack and videography of the entire programme were done by Vista Production, Sivasagar (Madhu) for preservation.
