Dimoria District Tribal Sangha observed 20th Three Yearly General Conference 2013 at Sonapur

Dimoria District Tribal Sangha (DDTS) observed 20th Three Yearly General Conference with two days’ programmes on 28th & 29th December, 2013 at TRYSEM Auditorium, Sonapur, Kamrup (Metro) district, Assam. Early in the morning of the first day, the registration for Delegates
was done and the delegate’s halted house was inaugurated by Shri Rabindra Nath Das, Police Officer, Sonapur Police Station; and further various members’ selection issue for the new term was raised at delegate’s meeting. The meeting was inaugurated by Shri Mani Purakayashtha, President of Reception Committee.


For second day, the flag was hoisted by Shri Bishnu Ranghang, President, DDTS and Shri Suren Teran, Vice president, DDTS offered homage to the in-memoriam at early in the morning.  After that, Cultural procession was inaugurated by Shri Vidyadhar Daimary, Former president, DDTS. In the evening, the Open Session was started with Chorus, directed by Shri Deepak Kachari and his associates. The session was presided over by Shri Bishnu Ranghang, President, DDTS. The General Secretary, DDTS delivered welcome address and all the dignitaries on the dice were welcomed and felicitated by mafler - Bodo Arnai and Karbi Gamocha - a symbol of respect for Bodo and Karbi communities respectively. The inaugural speech was delivered by Shri Bashishtha Moni Ram De, Former President, DDTS. In his speech, he expressed the history of DDTS and the reason behind for the name of Dimoria District Tribal Sangha.

The particular magnetism in Open Session was observed that Dr. Lokesh Boro, Assistant Professor, D.C.B. Girls’ College, Jorhat and Mrs Bhanu Deka Bordoloi, Sportperson were specially felicitated by the esteemed organization in this open session. Dr. Lokesh Boro was felicitated for his achievement in research as well as education field. Recently he has been awarded Ph.D. Degree by the Faculty of Arts, Gauhati University for his research work entitled ‘Income and Employment Generation inAlternative Farming Systems: A Study of Central Brahmaputra Valley Zone ofAssam’. He has also written two text books for B.A. students. His permanent address is Digaru and his is the youngest son of Late Rameswar Boro and Ahelya Boro.  Mrs Bhanu Deka Bordoloi, permanent resident Digaru was felicitated by the organization for her achievement in XX World Masters Athletics Championships 2013 hosted by the city Porto Alegre, Brazil during 16-27 October. She secured the 6th Position in the event W35 Group, 1000 Meter Run in 52:49.23 minutes. She also secured Third Position in 5 Kms Walk Competition. It is noteworthy to be mentioned here that she is a mother of 10 years old daughter besides a successful sport person.

Shri Adidtya Khakhlary, General Secretary, All Assam Tribal Sangha delivered his lecture in this programme. He said that tribal people is the son of land (Bhumi Putra). So it is our right to ask government for autonomous government. Further he pointed out some examples how tribal people are deprived of in various aspects in Assam. He also pointed out how two school children were killed by Army force at Kokrajhar district.   


Shri Muralidhar Das, a well known respected person and writer as well as researcher on folklore field inaugurated the Souvenir known as PARIBARTAN, 2013. In his speech, he congratulated the members of the editorial Board -  Shri Manashjyoti Bordoloi, Mahanta Tunumg and Pawan Ranghang for their works. He said that this type of Souvenir is very important where recent activities of the organization and creative work remained as history in past. Further he inaugurated an Audio Cassette – LANGCHAR ARKI, a Karbi song album. Further DAYAMOY- a Kamrupi Lokogeet audio cassette was inaugurated by Shri Rajen Tumung, a well known writer in Dimoria area. In both the Albums, the songs are sung by the Local artists- Shri Neelkanta Rahang (Contact No. +919854608832), Mrs. Pratibha Das Keleng Ingti and Shri Sarjan Rahang; and the music was directed by Shri Naren Das.

Other dignitaries also put their views about the threatening on Tribal Belt and provided valuable suggestions in the open session and Vote of Thanks was delivered by Shri Jiten Mahilary, General Secretary, Reception Committee of the General Conference. At the end, Shri Bishnu Ranghang delivered his presidential speech and declared as The End of the session.

A cultural programme was organized at night. This programme was inaugurated by Dr. Debabrata Khanikar, Principal, Sonapur College. The main attraction of the cultural night was the popular singers like Shri Krishnamani Nath, Mrinal Kanti, Jyoti Sharma and other local artists.
