The Tree

By Ganga Mohan Mili

The tree is by nature gentle.
It loves loneliness.

It gets excited being invited by rain
It flutters its old garment
As the wind blows through it.

When the cowherd boy
Sits on a branch
And plays upon the flute
Youth comes back.

With all its heart
It welcomes back
And bids farewell to
Each season of the year.

The tree manifests
The talent of the earth
Rich consciousness of the climate.

Its growing family
In the company of the forest
Will woke up one day
To the warbling of along lost spring.

The tree is a lover of the earth
A supreme well wisher of man
If man were like a tree.
