MOTHER, I BOW TO THEE! Flavour of Independence at DPS, ONGC, Nazira

Bande Mataram
Mother, I bow to thee!
Rich with thy hurrying streams
Bright with orchard gleams
Cool with thy winds of delight
Dark fields waving Mother of might,
Mother free…

Enabling the students to participate in various activities in and outside
the school, Delhi Public School, ONGC, Nazira has always aimed to prepare her students for a social cause, churning them out as bright young buds of the morrow; forever making the school, state and country proud of their undaunted spirit and zeal to serve the nation. Taking part in various patriotic prayers, thoughts, speeches, songs, skits and rhythmic tributes to the nation on the occasion of the 67th Independence Day of India, the school wore a festive look in its pre-Independence Day Celebration conducted in the
Morning Assembly of 14th August, 2014

Invoking the Gods to awaken the nation into a heaven of freedom, the students reflected on some freedom thoughts and deliberated on the duties of a student towards his motherland. A rhythmic tribute, in the form of a dance and enactment, highlighted the oppressive rule of the British and the struggle to a free India through peace and non-violence.

 It was a moment of great privilege for the students to represent the school on a greater platform by taking part in two celebrations outside the school on the 15th of August, 2014. Saluting the country on this auspicious occasion, the Tricolor was hoisted in the school premises early morning. The School Contingent took part in the March Past Parade being held under the sponsorship of Assam Asset, ONGC, Nazira at the ONGC Colony, Nazira;
along with the School Choir rendering a melodious compilation of songs in Assamese, Hindi and English. Amidst the cheer and applause of the public, the school presented a Field Display at the Independence Day celebration held at Gandhi Maidan, under the aegis of the Nazira Town Committee & District Administration.

Indeed, it was a brilliant way of inculcating love for Mother India – the cradle of human race, the birthplace of human speech, the mother of history, the grandmother of legend, and the great grandmother of tradition.
