YOGA NIDRA- A WAY OF HUMAN LIFE

Yoga nidra is a form of yogic sleep. It is the state of conscious deep sleep. In yoga nidra, the focus is given to the mind while somebody remains at sleep. Yoga nidra is state of relaxation where one individual sleeps with consciousness over its mind. The conscious awareness of the deep sleep state is referred to as ‘Prajna’ in ‘Mandukya Upanishad.

In Hinduism and Buddhism, the concept of yoga nidra is very old. ‘Mahabharata’ says that Lord Krishna was often associated with yoga nidra. In ancient India, many sages and rishis performed yoga nidra as a medium of meditation.

TIPS AND TRICKS FOR PRACTICE

 
The practice of yoga nidra is done in lying position. It can be best done with voice guidance may be in a classroom or playing a C.D. You have to concentrate on the voice and think about it while remain relaxed. It is a task of imagination. Different good thoughts and pleasant thoughts come to mind while performing this practice. Generally, this practice is done for 30 minutes in a separate room where pure oxygenated air passes away. The performer should wear comfortable clothes and should use mat while performing. Before doing this better you should do some stretching exercises and after performing yoga nidra, closing prayer should be done with chanting of ‘Shanti’ for 3 times.

Yoga nidra is a method of providing a complete relaxation to the whole body parts. A strong psychological assistance is gained and for this, people can minimize anxiety and stress. Some health problems like insomnia, hypertension, migraine, ulcer, asthma can be manipulated by performing yoga nidra. Creativity which is a very important quality of life can be enhanced through yoga nidra. Researches found that regular practice of yoga nidra makes a good sequence between conscious and unconscious mind and for this, the power of creativity awakens. It also develops and sharpens memory as well as learning capacity. Yoga nidra can be taken as a positive measure of treating cancer patients also. In cancer therapy, yoga nidra has a significant role. Yoga nidra is the right path to expose one’s capability. It affects on the power of soul, turns the unfounded creativity or potentiality into practical world.
