KAVITA KARMAKAR


Kavita Karmakar hails from Sepon, Sivasagar and currently she is residing in Guwahati. She has published three books of poetry of own composition, such as, Bhalpowar Hutimali Pahi (2010), Bhalobashar Jui Phooler Papri (2014) (Bangla) and Juddhar Din Burot Okole Thaku (2015). She has also contributed many articles and short stories for Assamese newspapers and magazines. Her translated poems are published in some different Indian languages, such as, Hindi, English, Bengali, Malayalam, Telegu and Gujarati. 

For her contribution in Assamese poetry, she has been Awarded ‘Banshi Gogoi Memorial Award’ in 2010. In 2013-2014 she received second prize Goriyosee Chandra Prasad Saikia short story competition. Above all, she attended several National poetry festivals and programes organised by Sahitya Akademi and National Book Trust of India.
