GUMRAG DANCE CONTEST ENDS, CHARAIDEO BAGS FIRST PRIZE

The two-day All Assam Prize Money Gumrag Dance Competition concluded at Natya Mandir, Sivasagar on 29th January 2016.

Top honours in the competition went to teams from Charaideo, Naharbari, Jonai and Dibrugarh. The first position holder Charaideo team was awarded with Rs1,00,000, the Naharbari team got the second position and awarded with Rs70,000, while the teams from Jonai and Dibrugarh jointly got the third position and awarded with Rs50,000.


The function was organized by the Mising Dirbi Kebang in association with Sivasagar District Reception Committee with an aim to preserve and promote Mising culture and emphasize its economical aspect from culture for the society. More than 10 teams from across the State participated in the competition, which was inaugurated by ONGC AISCSTEWA, CWC, President and NEST Foundation Chairman Punaram Mili on January 28. The opening day saw the presence of dignitaries like Mising Dirbi Kebang treasurer, ADC and EO Aswini Kr. Doley, MAC general member (Desang-Dikhow constituency) Moneswar Mili, president of Mising Dirbi Kebang Lolit Kuli, TMPK president Dipak Panging, Vice-president of Mising Dirbi Kebang Pabitra Pegu and others.

The concluding day witnessed an impressive performance of Gumrag dance more than 300 artists at Boarding Field. In the evening , the prize distribution function presided over by MisingDirbiKebang central committee president Suruj Kumar Patiri, was held at Natya Mandir where Additional Deputy Commissioner, Sivasagar, Hem Kanta Pegu attended as chief guest and executive member of Mising Autonomous Council (Cultural  Department) Prasanta Bori and Naresh Kumbang, President, TMPK Central committee attended as distinguished guest.

In connection with the meeting some social workers and renowned persons were felicitated for their life long extraordinary contribution toward Mising society.

To commemorate the occasion, a special edition of “Dirbi”, mouthpiece of Mising Dirbi Kebang, edited by Jitendra Mili, Secretary, Mising Dirbi Kebang was released by noted educationist Nahendra Padun and Rajat Kamal Award winner and noted actor Bishnu Khargharia was also graced the occasion. Earlier, Dembi Ram Panging, Secretary of reception committee delivered the welcome speech.
