TO MY CHILD

By Mamoni Gogoi Baruah
Translation: Dr Sudipta Dipak Baruah

Through the Bright moonlit street
We welcomed you
To our cottage.

To see you brighten up
Our darkness filled shack
With your divine smile.

Through your birth
You gave me
The pride of mother.

For you
The divine power has gifted
Prowess, courage
Brave masculine willpower.

Never will you be indebted
My wish-
On the rubbles of injustice,
With hammer and tongs
You will establish
The strong foundation of Justice.

With your divine smile
You will wash away
Maniac urges-
Your masculinity will win over
Alluring temptations.

On the highest peak of pride,
I will sit and welcome
Those golden days.
