Mising community is a notable community of Assam and their contribution to the formation of great Assamese society is immense. About Misings, Hazarika (2012) in his The Abode of the Originals mentioned that, “the Misings are considered as the second largest scheduled tribe group in plain districts of Assam. They had their original abode within the hilly ranges of the Abor, Miri and Misimi hills in the North East Frontier Agency and migrated to the plains of Assam prior to the advent of the Ahoms in the 13th century A.D.

Though this Mising community has been living in Assam by transforming themselves and their living style according to the climate, natural environment and environmental situation of this land from a long time ago, in case of physical formation or cultural side they still have many similarities with the main Mongolian culture. According to the anthropologist, the main characteristics of Mongolian people are like this- upright hair, small eye, clearly visible check bone, blunt nose, big calf of the leg and the colour of their body is like copper. In the midst of 19th century, some British researchers and writers noticed these characteristics in the people of Mising community and regarded them as the branch of great Mongolian community.
