GREEN VOICES

Sudipta Phukan

The road winding
At the crescent you stand
Tall and brave
Fresh and green
Roots finding solace
In the bosom of female earth.
Leaves singing, dancing, falling
You continue to stand
Tall and brave
Do you speak?
O my masculine tree
Do you have voice?
Standing amidst
Nature’s  calamities
Wind, hurricane, rain, sun
You confront all
My giant tree
How can I say?
I am in love with you
Can you hear me?
O my handsome tree
How old are you?
You are there
You will be there
Even if I am gone
Ever and forever.
