Abstract
National Health Mission (NHM) is primarily a welfare initiative taken by Govt. of India to strengthen the healthcare infrastructure and to boost the failing public health indicators in the rural areas of the states of India. The key strategies of the mission includes ensure intra and inter-sectoral convergence, strengthening public health expenditure, increasing community participation, fastening public-private partnerships, emphasizing quality services etc. Further the main objective of NRHM was to provide accessible, affordable, and quality healthcare services to the rural population throughout the country with special focus on 18 states, which have weak public health indicators and/ or weak infrastructure, including Assam. If we observe the health indicators of Assam then it is seen that even after 10 years of implementation of NHM, the goals of the mission are not yet fulfilled. The three key goals set by the NHM and by the Eleventh Five Year Plan (GOI-PC 2007) of the Government of India included reduction of Total Fertility Rate (TFR) to 2.1 or less, Infant Mortality Rate (IMR) to 28 and Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) to 100 per 100,000 live births. But in case of Assam, the TFR is 2.3 (SRS 2013), IMR is 49 (SRS 2014) and MMR is 300 (SRS 2011-13). In fact, MMR is highest in Assam among all Indian states. Thus the present study seeks to analyze the impact of NHM on maternal health in Assam.

  1. Most toy breeds suffer from some sort of genetic defect or the other. In fact except for a few naturally occurring small breeds, most other breeds have various health problems specific to the breed. The Yorkshire terrier is not immune to this and has a number of genetic problems. bluewafflesclinic.com
