DYSTOPIA

by Mridusmita Gharphalia

I wonder…
If the cliff would fall off someday,
The countryside, the shire, the orchard,
The trees-plants-buds-sprouts
All would submerge into the sudden avalanche!

What would happen to the uncluttered river
On the other side then?

Perhaps,
It would divert its usual path
Indifferently and instinctively!
Because,
Changing route while seeing snag
Is the very law of a fluent river!

That day
Oh! That very day…
Like a paralyzed patient
I would look at the ravages and ruins of the shire
And the fossils of the dead river!

And in utter bafflement
I would listen to the chaos of the foothills
In my crippled heart
With all my might…
