DPS, ONGC, Nazira Hosts RoboFiesta Junior - 2014

Delhi Public School, ONGC, Nazira has always been trying to generate the need and learning of advanced technologies into the students at their early educational stage so that when they actually need to decide about their career options
and while finding opportunity, they have good knowledge about the different options available to them. In keeping with this motive, the school was privileged to be the Event Centre of RoboFiesta-2014 Junior, a National Level Championship for schools on Robotics in association with Amalthea, Indian Institute of Technology, Gandhinagar.

This programme is the only for schools in International Certification is provided to the participating students. For International Certification, RoboFiesta-2014 Junior is presently associated with 3 international bodies, namely: IAARC [International Association for Automation & Robotics in Construction], USDLA [United States Distance Learning Association] & IADL [International Association for Distance Learning].  More than 60 students participated in this National Level Championship programme which flagged off for two days, on 22 August, 2014 at the Ligiripukhuri premises of the school. 

Gracing the event on the inaugural day was J K Ghai, GM (E&T), ONGC, Assam Assetwho with his inspiring words motivated the scientific temper of the students and congratulated them on being lucky enough to experience such robotic training at such a young age. In his welcome speech, the President, Students’ Council of the school, expressed his confidence that such a workshop would stimulate a lot of fruitful discussion and interaction among the participants and reduce the huge separation that exists nowadays between their practical and theoretical knowledge, particularly in the field of science.

Apart from the training given to the registered participants,

a general demonstration was given to students of Classes VI to XII by Farhan Rahim and Munazir Ali, the resource persons of this Robofiesta Junior 2014, on the early morning hours of 22 August, 2014; wherein they gave a brief knowhow on the different types of robots and their functions with slide and audio-visual aids.
